Spring Courts

    Wednesday 14th Jan 2015

We all have a uniform, whether we know it or not.

It’s that sentimental favourite, that piece that needs no further consideration – a style shortcut that you play on repeat.

Mine are Spring Courts – that classic French canvas sneaker that I’ve managed to incorporate into pretty much any occasion (I attribute this ability to their ‘French-ness’, because ‘French’ always works, oui?).

The were originally designed in 1936 as a tennis shoe and they look exactly the same to this day, which I especially love – a true design classic that stands the test of time (on their vulcanised rubber soles, no less).

Picturing yourself wearing these with your favourite boyfriend jeans? A smock dress? Or even your slim-cut black suit?

    Spring Court NEW EDITION

    Thursday 3rd Sep 2015

My love for Spring Court sneakers goes uncontested.

Originally designed in 1936 as a French tennis shoe, this design classic is my sentimental favourite – a style shortcut that I play on repeat.

So there’s always room in my heart (read: wardrobe) for more Spring Courts, which is great because they’ve recently released their ‘New Edition’ collection with an enhanced design and new-look logo ensuring these stylish staples are even more perfect.

Thinking there’s room for a new pair in your wardrobe too?

  • Recommendations – they’re the stock and trade of stylish sorts.

Indeed, it’s why I started Shortcuts – it’s hectic out there and we’re all busy, so any well edited advice from trusted sources is always well received.

And so, whilst hanging out with notable stylish-sort, Louella Tuckey we got chatting about her favourite outfit…

“I found these jeans on a trip to CottonOn (to go through our homewares products with the store staff) and I’ve been living in them ever since. My god they’re super comfy and such a crazy good price – might have to buy more!

The jacket is a new one from Bassike and such a lovely cut (clever Deb x)

Spring Courts are my new found favourite winter footwear (I never hide my toes in summer, nude feet is the rule) from Lee Mathews

    The Platform Canvas Sneaker

    Tuesday 7th Apr 2015

The votes are in and it seems that flatforms and all of their avant-garde-meets-geisha-girl charm are back for another season.

But this is fashion folks, so there’s a twist (of the most serendipitous kind).

Regular readers will know that I’m more than a little bit fond of that great canvas classic – Spring Courts. So you can imagine my joy upon discovering the recent rise (did you see what I did there?!) of the Platform Canvas Sneaker… that will just so happen to look perfect with your cropped wide-leg pants.

Stylish, fun and comfy… ohhh, so very comfy.

    The Suede Loafer

    Monday 23rd Feb 2015

We’ve been hanging out together for a while now and so I feel it’s about time I came clean with you…

I love fashion – this bit you already know. But the posts, whilst wonderfully witty and terribly useful (you: nodding in agreement) are often driven by what’s missing from my personal wardrobe.

And my biggest deficit at the moment is shoes.

True, Spring Courts are ridiculously versatile in a classic-meets-cool kind of way. And we’ve recently covered the essential black pump… but a girl needs options… regularly.

So, ever the stylish problem solver, this week I’ve decided will be the unofficial ‘INEZ Daily Week Of The Shoe’

If you like shoes (and let’s be honest, there’s a few of us) then be sure to pop back all week for regular updates as I explore all the best, on trend, handsome footwear options available this season.

Today it’s that great perennial favourite, the suede loafer.

I could give you a whole list of reasons as to why you need a pair of these… but you’re busy, so I’m going to cut to the chase – they are the masters of ‘Preppy With Irony’ – that genre that says stylish and respectful of the classics all whilst not looking like you’ve had to try too hard or take yourself too seriously (and they also happen to look really great with overalls… another must – exhibit A, exhibit B, exhibit C and exhibit D)
